Buying a firearm online
How FFL transfer works
Federal law requires that firearms purchased online be shipped to a Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL) — a licensed dealer near you — rather than to your door. You pick the firearm up from that dealer. Here is the whole process, step by step.
- Order your firearm. Add it to your cart and check out like any other item. You are responsible for verifying that the firearm you order does not violate your state or local laws.
- Choose your local dealer. During checkout, pick a licensed FFL dealer near you from our dealer directory to receive the shipment.
- Your dealer sends us their license. We must have a copy of your dealer's FFL license within 5 calendar days (not business days) of your order, or the order is automatically cancelled. Make sure to give your order number to your FFL dealer.
- We ship to the dealer. Your firearm ships to the dealer you chose, not to your home.
- Pick up and inspect at the dealer. Complete the transfer with your dealer at pickup. Inspect the firearm before you leave — any defects or damage must be reported to us immediately, while you are still at your dealer. Once a firearm has been picked up from the transfer dealer it is no longer returnable, and all sales on firearms are final.
