Federal Premium Cape-Shok Ammunition is a great choice for any safari. For many hunters a safari is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity so having ammunition that will work the first time, every time is critical. Cape-Shok ammunition is designed to give safari hunters the confidence they need to know that their ammunition is going to give them their desired results. Each round of Cape-Shok ammunition is loaded into a nickel plated brass case for smoother and more reliable feeding, ejection and corrosion resistance. Each primer is lacquer-sealed to protect against moisture and assure instant ignition every time the trigger is pulled. Loadings are available in a wide variety of hard-hitting bullet for taking down the plains game to tackling the most dangerous game known to man. This ammunition is new production, non-corrosive, in boxer-primed, reloadable brass cases.
This load is loaded with the Woodleigh Hydro Solid. What is the Hydro Solid you ask? The Hydro Solid is a bullet that was engineered to offer the same unstoppable penetration of a conventional solid bullet, but with a concave nose and flared pressure ring that creates massive hydrostatic shock. This massive wave of hydrostatic shock destroys tissue surrounding the bullets path bringing down dangerous game quickly. The Hydro Sold bullet features a polymer cap over the nose of the bullet so every round will feed reliably, while the grooved shank of the bullet helps to engage the barrels rifling offering match-grade accuracy.

Caliber Dictionary
The Below Information Has Been Provided From Our Gun Caliber Dictionary And Is Meant For Informational Purposes Only. It Is Not Intended to Describe The Unique Specifications For This Ammunition.
The 500 Nitro Express was developed in the 1890s from existing blackpowder cartridges. There were both 3-inch and 3 1/4-inch versions; the longer case is still encountered in older rifles, but the 500-3" was the most common; today the 500-3" is chambered by most modern double rifle manufacturers, and ammunition is available from multiple sources. Unlike the several similar Nitro Express cartridges between 450 and 476, the 500 Nitro Express represents a notable step up in power, propelling a 570-grain bullet at 2150 fps, yielding 5850 ft-lbs of energy...but at a very modest increase in recoil. The 500-3" Nitro Express is probably the second-most popular of the big-bore Nitro Express cartridges after the 470. — Craig Boddington
