Having a mat is just a smart thing to have, to protect your gun as well as your desk. This matt does another feature of showing you what goes where, when you forget....tell the truth, every once in a while it helps to have some crib notes, and this mat does just that.
Personally I have several, one I actually use as a mouse pad. Because beyond functionality, it has a "cool" factor. And I don't know when "cool" became a bad thing when related to firearms, but this mat won't hurt anyone and has that "cool" factor.
These are also super easy to clean, a little soapy water and a sponge get rid of almost anything I get on the mat and it take a lot to actually damage the thing.
So do yourself a favor and spend a few bucks to get a mat that is both functional and cool.
