Taylor/Uberti Top Break Schofield Charcoal Blue Case Hardened 44-40 Win 7" Barrel
Designed by Major George Schofield to be operated with one hand while on horseback, a break-open pistol was ideal for mounted soldiers in the U.S. Cavalry. Shooters could easily eject all six spent cartridges and reload while on horseback. The top break pistol also proved useful to the likes of Jesse James and Wild Bill Hickok. The Schofield barrel latch opens by pulling it back and has a rear sight notch incorporated into it. The charcoal blue finish option includes charcoal blue finish on the barrel and case hardening on the frame. Charcoal blue finish is a bright blue delicate over-oxidized bluing which will naturally patina to a soft grey color over a long period of time with handling and use.
