I love the stopping power of this caliber, and the reliability of a revolver in unparalleled. When it comes to home defense there is really only two options, either shotgun or pistol. The only problem with shotguns is that they can be more difficult to get to in case of emergency, and with pistols the draw back is with semiautomatic and the probability of a cartridge jam. Revolvers are my personal choice especially a snub, their reliability is without question and the compact size of a snub makes it easy to keep nearly anywhere and have one close at hand when you need it. I've owned a Taurus .357 magnum before and it is a great caliber for home defense, it offers great stopping power without over-penetration and is very comfortable to fire.
