Having owned several CVA muzzleloaders in the past (which I build from kits) I've always been impressed by the quality, fit and finish of the guns. The Kentucky Rifles were always accurate when used within their capabilities and never failed (as long as I did my part) to as it were "bring home the bacon or venison."
As will all front stuffers, each has it's own preference of primer, powder and bullet combinations. Right now,I am experimenting with my Optima to find out what it prefers. I can say however, I am shooting 2 inch groups at 100 yards with FFG and a platinum powerbelt. As soon as I get enough data on this load, I'll move to another to see if I can improve the accuracy, etc. I will be using it on an elk and hopefully Oryx hunt late fall.
CVA is a name I trust and you can trust as well. Those who have issues with CVA products, from reading their reviews seem to be caused by operator error more than the gun.
Best of luck and great hunting!
