Introducing NEW Tundra Waterfowl – 3 specific weight levels : When the Fiocchi R & D Department was challenged with the task of determining what
was to be the best project for non-toxic Premium shotshells in Heavier-than-Steel ( HTS
) and Heavier-than-Lead (HTL ) the answer was easy: we had to think outside the box.
We all know that Bismuth shots are erratic in shape and brittle, often disintegrating while
traveling along the barrel; sinterized tungsten on the other hand lacked deformation
capacity and could damage barrel and chokes.2009 brought the addition of our long
anticipated Tundra Composite 9.5g/cc ( Superior weight to Bismuth ) and 12.5 g/cc.(
Superior weight to Lead )loads that implemented our 5-Star graphically (tampographed
4-color) printed case. The Tundra compound will be available in 2010 also in 8,0 g/cc.
( Superior weight to Steel ) This extremely innovative compound has a spherical shape,
no brittleness, and a deformation upon impact basically identical to lead. These factors
allow the hunter to be able to utilize tight chokes without fear. Both configurations (HTS
and HTL) will be available in 2 ¾ and 3 inch. Shells. Available in 2010 also in 20 Gauge 3”
and 28 Gauge 3” both in the 9.5 g/cc.

12 gauge is the most popular and useful shotgun gauges ever made. Suitable for everything from doves to geese. With sporting, military and law enforcement applications. Available in 2 ¾”, 3” and 3 ½”. The magnum lengths are generally preferred for waterfowl and turkey. Most major manufacturers produce guns and ammunition in a very wide septum for 12 gauge. Loads from ¾ oz. to 2 oz. are common with 1 1/8 oz Low base and 1 ¼ oz being the most common loadings. Target loads are normally around 1150 to 1200 FPS with High velocity lead loads tuning up 1350 FPS. Steel waterfowl loads tend to be loaded faster around 1500 FPS to compensate lower density shot. While the 2 ¾” loading is still the most popular ammunition made, nearly all current production guns have 3”or 3 ½” chambers. The shorter ammunition can be safely fired in longer chambers, but not all magnum semiautomatics will function with shorter shotshells.
