Caliber Dictionary
The Below Information Has Been Provided From Our Gun Caliber Dictionary And Is Meant For Informational Purposes Only. It Is Not Intended to Describe The Unique Specifications For This Ammunition.
The 25-35 Winchester (25-35 Winchester Center Fire or WCF) was introduced in the Model 1894 Winchester in its second year of production, 1895. It shares the same basic case as its companion introduction, the 30-30 Winchester, and was thus among the first two American sporting cartridges designed for smokeless powder. With Winchester's traditional 117-grain bullet at 2230 feet per second it shoots a bit flatter than the 30-30 and has less recoil...but is not as powerful. It was an extremely popular deer cartridge, chambered in lever actions from Marlin, Winchester, and Savage; and in numerous single shots. Winchester has manufactured recent runs of 25-35 lever actions, and Hornady has recently introduced the first "new" 25-35 load for many decades. — Craig Boddington
