The Model 70 Safari Express in a matte blued finish is the perfect choice for your once-in-a-lifetime hunt because it's built to handle the heavy cartridges necessary to take dangerous game. Important details like the Pre-'64 type claw extractor, Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad, M.O.A Trigger System, barrel band front swivel base, hooded-blade front sight and express-style rear sight make the Safari Express ideal for any African hunt. The dual recoil lugs and two steel stock reinforcing crossbolts handle the punishment from heavy magnum loads. The secure hex socket action screws won't snag on clothing and the one-piece steel trigger guard helps maintain rigidity and provides added strength. For easy reloading, the Safari Express comes with a flush mounted hinged steel magazine floorplate.

The 416 Remington Magnum was introduced by Remington in 1989. Although very similar to the wildcat 416 Hoffman, the 416 Remington uses the 8mm Remington Magnum case necked up. Case length of 2.85 inches requires a full-length action. The standard load is a 400-grain bullet at 2400 fps, yielding 5115 foot-pounds. This is exactly the same as the 416 Rigby, so performance on game is identical, but the 416 Remington offers more compact and less costly ammunition and can be housed in a more compact and generally less expensive rifle. Like the other 416s the Remington is extremely effective on the largest game, and shoots flat enough to be versatile. They are not as versatile as the 375s and produce more recoil--but are certainly more effective for thick-skinned dangerous game. — Craig Boddington
