A one-piece steel bottom metal adds extra rigidity to the Super Grade's stock and action for improved accuracy. The Super Grade's shadowline cheekpiece is beautifully functional, placing your eye in perfect alignment with the scope. Inside is the M.O.A Trigger System, the finest trigger ever offered in a bolt-action with zero take up, zero creep and zero overtravel. A Pre-64 Style controlled round feed with claw extractor fully controls the cartridge from magazine, to chamber, to ejection and the Pachmayr Decelerator Recoil Pad is optimal for protection against felt recoil.

The 270 WSM (Winchester Short Magnum) was introduced in 2001 along with the 7mm WSM as the second and thirds members of Winchester's family of short magnums. It uses short (2.10-inch) case suitable for housing in a short bolt action, and with its short, fat .555-inch base diameter) unbelted case it is an accurate and efficient cartridge. With 130-grain bullets at 3300 feet per second and 150-grain bullets at 3150 it is faster than the 270 Winchester (and delivers more energy)...but but not quite as fast as the 270 Weatherby Magnum. Excellent for deer and mountain game and suitable for elk, it has a significant following and is probably the second-most popular of the several short magnums (after the 300 Winchester Short Magnum). Several manufacturers have chambered rifles, and ammunition is available from multiple sources.
