Kahr Arms CW40 Burnt Bronze with Laser DAO 40 S&W 3.6" Barrel 6+1 Rounds Poly Grip

The CW40 pistol has a 3.6 inch barrel, an overall length of 6.3 inches and a height of just 4.62 inches. It weighs just 16.8 ounces without a magazine. The pistol has a black polymer frame and features 4140 steel inserts molded into the front and back of the frame for added rigidity. It has a machined, solid 416 burnt bronze stainless steel slide and a textured polymer grip.The Kahr CW40 features a lock breech, modified Browning type recoil lug, and utilizes Kahr's seven patents including the "safe cam" action found in all Kahr pistols. The result is a micro compact pistol with very little recoil and quick follow up shots. The pistol features drift adjustable white bar dot combat rear sight and pinned in polymer front sight. The CW series comes with one 6 round steel magazine. Lastly, the slide locks back after firing the last round.

Designed by Winchester and introduced by Winchester and Smith & Wesson in 1990, the 40 S&W was designed as a "compromise" semiautomatic pistol cartridge that would offer more performance than the 9mm Luger (9x19)…but would produce less recoil and allow higher magazine capacity than the 45 ACP. Few compromises in the firearms world have ever worked as well. From a manufacturing standpoint many pistols designed for the 9mm could be re-engineered to handle the larger cartridge; in a short time it has become a standard issue in the law enforcement community. Using a .400-inch bullet of from 135 to 180 grains from a .850-inch cae, the .40 S&W produces up to 1205 fps, and although recoil is greater than the 9mm, it is easier to shoot than the 45 ACP, and its greater velocity and smaller bullet diameter aid penetration. — Craig Boddington
