Faithful reproduction of the famous “Colt Double” breech loading double rifle produced of the 19th century, the Kodiak Mark IV is no museum piece, but an accessible gun for collectors and hunters. Very good sighting with the double-leaf rear sight in a dovetail, the tapered round barrels are made of blued steel.



The stock is made of selected walnut, checkered and oil finished.



This version is in 450 Nitro Express caliber and make the Kodiak an excellent choice for Dangerous Game hunting.



The Kodiak 450 Nitro Express uses an action with the sliding third bite. It is only available with extractors. The express sight has a fixed and 3 folding blades.



The .450 Nitro Express was the first Nitro Express, developed around 1898 by John Rigby. It was designed for the purpose of hunting large game such as elephant in the Golden Age of African safaris and Indian shikars. The cartridge fires a 480 grain jacketed bullet. Muzzle velocity is listed at 2,150 feet per second with 4,909 ft·lbs of muzzle energy. In 1907 the British Army banned all .450 caliber sporting rifles and ammunition from importation into India and East Africa due to insurrections. The British gun companies quickly developed the .470 Nitro Express to replace the .450 solely for political reasons. The .450 was and still is one of the finest dangerous game calibers ever devised.
