The name says it all. Produced from 1884 to 1904 the Lightning Slide Action is known for its speed and precision and features the slide mechanism, compact size and short-action stroke. Pedersoli has made some important mechanical changes from the original design including:

- The bolt is designed and built to ensure that it is fully engaged prior to firing the rifle

- The extractor has a separate spring which provides more reliable extraction

- An inertia firing pin design provides additional safety

- An unloading latch provides a safer means to unload the rifle while preventing the hammer from striking the firing pin

- Improved magazine and loading gate for reliable loading and feeding

- A single shot device for safer use of the gun

- The trigger system has been reworked to only fire when the bolt is fully in battery
