Buffalo Bore 458 SOCOM ammunition is designed to be used against all large North American Game like Bison, AK/Yukon moose and very large bears. The hard cast bullet penetrates plenty deeply enough to kill any North American mammal shot from any angle. This ammunition is designed to be a sub-sonic load, for suppressed use, but you do not have to use a suppressor if you do not want to.
This 500 grain round nosed jacketed bullet is designed to operate at 458 Win. Mag. velocities, so when fired at these relatively low, sub-sonic velocities, the bullet will not expand, but will act as a solid and penetrate deeply. If you are using a range finder and proper optics, there is no reason not to snipe with this load, out to around 200 yards or more. Because of the big bullet diameter and non-expanding bullet, this load is appropriate for 2,000 lb.+ game animals.
