Product Summary

Pedersoli 1874 Sharps "Q" Down Under 45-110 caliber

This Sharps rifle model comes originally from the transformation of a Cavalry model of which it keeps the patchbox and the saddle ring. The selected walnut stock and forend, with German silver cap, are checkered and oil finished.

Very heavy octagon barrel with 1-18 twist. Receiver hammer, handle and butt plate are all case colored in new condition. This model also has the saddle ring and patch box. Walnut stocks are checkered and forend has a german silver cap.

The model manufactured by Pedersoli is very similar to the rifle used by Tom Selleck in the film "Mister Quigley - The Australian" in which he made very spectacular long distance shots.

The .45-110 Sharps also known as the .45 2 7/8" Sharps Straight was the longest factory case loaded by the Sharps Rifle Company. Up until January of 1877 this case was loaded with 90 grains of black powder and a 500-grain paper-patched slug. Thereafter it was loaded with 100 grains of black powder and the same 500 grain projectile. This cartridge was one of many Sharps cartridges used for hunting the great buffalo herds of the old west. Today most black powder cartridges are used for reenactments and Hollywood Old West movies. However, when these cartridges can be loaded with smokeless powder and is good for hunting North American big game for an experienced hunter.

Twist 18:1"
Barrel's length 34"
Overall length 50 13/61"
