The floating rib is a key advantage. The floating rib allows the rib and barrel to expand at different rates and move independently of each other. The floating rib prevents the point of impact shifts caused by barrel heating. The height of the rib gives a good view of your target.
Many pump shotguns are made for entry-level shooters. The new BPS is made for entry and exit. It is the pump shotgun made for the generations. If you demand the highest quality and reliability from your pump shotgun look no further. The BPS uses a rugged, machined steel receiver, steel internal components and twin steel action bars for long-lasting, bind-free, pump-action performance. This is the go-to gun of many of the most serious, extreme condition waterfowlers and has been for over 50 years. Totally reliable and totally durable.
Top and bottom of it all. Unique bottom ejection throws empty hulls straight down, out of the line of sight. The BPS, with its top tang safety, is the best pump shotgun choice for both right- and left-handed shooters.

The information below comes from our Gun Caliber Dictionary and is for
general reference only. It does not describe the specifications of this
particular item.
12 gauge is the most popular and useful shotgun gauges ever made. Suitable for everything from doves to geese. With sporting, military and law enforcement applications. Available in 2 ¾”, 3” and 3 ½”. The magnum lengths are generally preferred for waterfowl and turkey. Most major manufacturers produce guns and ammunition in a very wide septum for 12 gauge. Loads from ¾ oz. to 2 oz. are common with 1 1/8 oz Low base and 1 ¼ oz being the most common loadings. Target loads are normally around 1150 to 1200 FPS with High velocity lead loads tuning up 1350 FPS. Steel waterfowl loads tend to be loaded faster around 1500 FPS to compensate lower density shot. While the 2 ¾” loading is still the most popular ammunition made, nearly all current production guns have 3”or 3 ½” chambers. The shorter ammunition can be safely fired in longer chambers, but not all magnum semiautomatics will function with shorter shotshells.
