The X-Bolt builds on past Browning rifles, and adds numerous improvements that place the X-Bolt at the top. The X-Bolt's new three-lever Feather Trigger provides a clean, crisp pull with no take-up or creep and minimal overtravel.

The X-Bolt is free-floated by bedding the front and rear of the action for stability and to help maintain barrel to stock spacing for consistent accuracy. A recessed muzzle crown helps protect the rifling from damage.

The Inflex 2 recoil pad has proprietary construction and material to promote a directional deflection of recoil forces, pulling the stock comb away from your face to reduce felt recoil and muzzle climb. The bolt unlock button works in conjunction with the top-tang safety to provide an added measure of safety during checking and unloading of the chamber.

The X-Bolt Max Varmint/Target features a matte black Max composite stock with adjustable comb, length of pull spacers and vertical pistol grip; ideal for long range shooting, match grade stainless steel bull barrel with fluting, extended bolt handle and fore-end rail.

The 28 Nosler is Nosler Bullets' second proprietary cartridge, following the 26 Nosler in 2015. It is based on the 26 Nosler necked up to 7mm, thus based on the 7mm Remington Ultra Magnum case shortened…which was based on the 404 Jeffery case. Case length is 2.590 inches, allowing it to be housed in standard (30-06-length) actions. The base diameter is .550-inch, with the rim slightly rebated to .543-inch. The 28 Nosler has been the most popular of the Nosler series. It is not as overbore capacity as the 7mm RUM, making it more efficient and allowing a greater variety of propellants. With a 26-inch barrel velocity of up to 3300 feet per second is possible with a 160-grain bullet, making it, as Nosler describes it, "the most powerful 7mm in the world." Nosler is the primary source for ammunition, but in addition to Nosler rifles it has been chambered in numerous custom and semi-custom rifles. — Craig Boddington
