25 Winchester Super Short Magnum 20 Rounds Ammunition HSM 117 Grain Spitzer Boat Tail

The 25 Winchester Super Short Magnum (WSSM) was introduced in 2004 along with the 243 WSSM. Velocity is essentially the same as the 25-06 Remington, with a 110-grain bullet at 3100 feet per second and 120-grain bullet at 2990 fps. However, with its short (1.67-inch) case it has the advantage of being housed in short actions, and its very fat (.5559-inch) base diameter allows a smooth burning curve that is conducive to accuracy. It has not become popular and has only been manufactured by Winchester, but like all fast 25-caliber cartridges it is a fine choice for medium-sized big game in open country. — Craig Boddington
