The 36 quart Marine Performance Cooler is part of the cooler revolution that Coleman started back in 1954. Coolers, or "picnic chests" were made of thermally inefficient steel that would sweat and rust. Three years later a Coleman engineer saw a child blowing soap bubbles and realized a similar process could be used to make coolers. By forming a "bubble" from heated sheet plastic and molding it into the necessary shape, coolers could be lighter, more efficient, and easier to clean. This groundbreaking process revolutionized the industry and is basically the same process still used today. This 36 quart Marine Performance cooler features an insulated case for 3 day ice retention. The molded handles makes it comfortable to carry, and the lid has cord attachment points to aid in carrying.
