The Cotton Cordell Crazy Shad is a classic topwater lure with dual spinning blades that works great for chopping and roiling the surface. It is commonly used on schooling fish and as a search bait when worked with steady twitches and a fast cadence. That said, this same lure is extremely effective for casting into eddies for stream smallmouths or close to stick-ups and other shoreline cover for shallow largemouths. Very slight twitches of the rod tip put the blades in motion and create a disturbance to prompt strikes without moving the lure very far, which is valuable for working specific fish-holding target. The Crazy Shad's compact design allows for long, accurate casts and a give the lure relatively small profile that makes it look like an easy meal to bass, pike and other game fish.
