Weatherby UTS240WR4O MarkV Bolt 240 Weatherby Magnum 24" Synthetic SS

Based on the Mark V action, it features a chrome moly receiver, with weight trimming alloy follower and floorplate. Deepened and widened flutes on the bolt reduce weight, along with a skeletonized bolt handle and bolt sleeve. Weight reducing flutes are also employed on the 410 Series stainless steel 26" special contour barrel (.583 muzzle diameter), which features an accuracy enhancing recessed field crown. Rounding out the ultra lightweight is a specially designed, hand laminated, raised comb, Monte Carlo composite stock (a combination of Aramid, graphite unidirectional fibers and fiberglass), precisely inletted to accept a molded in, CNC machined aluminum bedding plate that stiffens the receiver area of the rifle when the barreled action is secured to the block. A pachmayr decelerator recoil pad dissipates recoil. Flat shooting. Hard hitting. Ultra lightweight.

Introduced in 1968, the 240 Weatherby Magnum was Roy Weatherby's final addition to his line of Weatherby Magnum cartridges. The case is belted and uses the signature Weatherby "double Venturi" shoulder, but the rim diameter (.473-inch) and case length (2.5 inches) are the same as the .30-06 family. The 240 Weatherby is the fastest commercial 6mm cartridge, propelling a 100-grain bullet at almost 3400 feet per second in Weatherby factory ammunition. Extremely flat-shooting, it is a fine cartridge for deer and pronghorn out to at least 300 yards, and with lighter bullets is an excellent long-range varmint cartridge. Weatherby has been the only ammunition manufacturer, and other than custom rifles only Weatherby has chambered rifles to the 240. — Craig Boddington
