Product Summary

Browning BAR MK3 Speed Semi-Automatic Rifle .270 Winchester 22" Barrel (1)-4Rd Magazine OVIX Camouflage Stock Cerakote Smoked Bronze Finish

New for 2022 Autoloading rifle for big game available in magnum calibers. Smoked Bronze Cerakote finish, Browning OVIX camo, composite shim-adjustable stock, Inflex recoil pad.

The BAR autoloading rifle is nothing short of a legend. Featuring short stroke, gas piston operation and a strong, rotary bolt design, these rifles are capable of bolt-action accuracy. This special model follows after our other guns that share the "Speed" moniker. Every Speed firearm is built to be more concealable, durable and lighter, making them the perfect tools for serious hunters and shooters who need gear as lean and tough as they are.

Originally designed by Browning family member Bruce Browning, the original civilian BAR was the rifle that set the standard for autoloading hunting rifles. The latest MK 3 version builds on the previous iterations with completely new styling, Browning OVIX Camouflage, a precision alloy receiver, and a hammer-forged barrel. The BAR features accuracy and performance that will make autoloading enthusiasts out of the most skeptical riflemen.

Classic in looks and contemporary in performance. The BAR MK 3 is the hunting rifle that sets the bar for every other autoloader on the planet with accuracy, speed and caliber selection unmatched by any other hunting autoloader. The MK 3 is available in the most popular hunting calibers from whitetail hunter's favorite 243 Winchester to the hard-hitting 300 Winchester Magnum. Cartridges are fed from a detachable box magazine that attaches to the hinged floor plate, so be sure to keep a spare in your pocket for fast reloads.

Caliber Dictionary

The Below Information Has Been Provided From Our Gun Caliber Dictionary And Is Meant For Informational Purposes Only. It Is Not Intended to Describe The Unique Specifications For This Ammunition.
The 270 Winchester was introduced in 1925 in the Winchester Model 54 bolt-action, forerunner to the Model 70. Based on the 30-06 case necked down, it was the first production cartridge to use a .277-inch bullet. Why this bullet diameter was chosen is not clear. The intent, however, was to create a cartridge that shot flatter than the 30-06 and produced less recoil. This effort was so successful that the 270 Winchester remains the world's most popular 270 cartridge...and since 1925 only three other commercial cartridges have used this bullet diameter. With a 130-grain bullet at 3060 feet per second and a 150-grain bullet at 2950 the 270 is powerful and flat shooting. It is adequate for game up to elk, ideal for virtually all American deer hunting, and, as it's long-time champion, gunwriter Jack O'Connor, so often wrote, it is a marvelous choice for mountain hunting. It is a standard chambering for almost all rifle makers, and choices in factory loads run into the many dozens. — Craig Boddington
