The VP9’s well-deserved reputation for being a handgun that actually helps people shoot better is backed by numerous reports from law enforcement of qualifying scores improving significantly after adopting it.
All A1 upgrades to the VP9 revolve around enhancing the connection between serious users and their pistols. The improved trigger, the grip frame, the controls. They all work better with the user in the uncompromising pursuit of performance.
In a first for the VP series, the VP9A1 series features a true compact “K” model. With a 4-inch barrel and a shorter frame, the “K” is a great concealed carry option between typical full-sized and subcompact pistols.
New A1 upgrades include :
-Enhanced trigger has a nickel-teflon coated trigger bar, providing a smoother pull and cleaner break.
-Adjustable length of pull – The VP9 A1 now offers a total of six replaceable backstraps. This includes the existing S, M, (ES & L available on HK Webstore) backstraps that change the circumference of the grip and two additional extended backstraps (M Ext & L Ext) that allow you to fine tune the length of pull (the distance from the trigger face to the back of the grip).
-Fully customizable grip – The VP9 A1 offers a full set of interchangeable backstraps and side panels to custom fit each gun to any user for grip circumference and length of pull. 54 different configurations are possible.
-Additional front and rear maritime serrations provide an enlarged gripping area.
-Factory-flared magwell for smoother reloads
-Improved ambidextrous controls are easier to manipulate without being overly obtrusive
-Serrated surface on the frame provides a tactile reference point
Recess cut in the magazine base facilitates easier removal and/or retention.
Existing VP9 features that carry over :
-Sight configuration features a high visibility tritium front sight with a clean, black serrated rear
-Optics-ready cut with cap. Machined steel adapter plates (sold separately) with integral recoil lugs
-Fully ambidextrous controls.
-Heavy-duty extractor functions as a loaded chamber indicator
-Patented HK charging supports make pulling the VP slide rearward easy
-The take down lever remains locked until the magazine is removed and then the slide can be removed, without pulling the trigger
-Slides are high strength steel with carbon-nitride “hostile environment” corrosion-resistant finish
-Barrels are hammer forged from our proprietary blend of cannon-grade steel for higher precision and greater strength than lesser barrels.

Caliber Dictionary
The Below Information Has Been Provided From Our Gun Caliber Dictionary And Is Meant For Informational Purposes Only. It Is Not Intended to Describe The Unique Specifications For This Ammunition.
The 9mm Luger (9X19mm, Parabellum, P08) was developed in Germany in 1902. Widely used in both world wars, it is the most popular pistol cartridge in the world, now widely used by innumerable law enforcement agencies and militaries (including our own) in both pistols and submachineguns. The controversy over its "stopping power" will never go away, but its attribute is that it is much easier to shoot accurately than larger cartridges with greater power...but more recoil. Advancements in bullet design for law enforcement and personal defense have narrowed the gap considerably. The 9mm Luger is a world standard, chambered by virtually all makers of semiautomatic pistols, with a myriad of factory loads. The most standard is probably a 115-grain load at 1160 fps, with common bullet weights ranging from 95 to 147 grains, and +P loads at higher velocity. — Craig Boddington
