Unlike other so-called "solid" bullets that are actually full metal jacketed bullets with lead cores, Barnes' solids are tough copper/zinc alloy throughout.
It has no separate jacket to shed, and no lead core that can break up or deform. When it strikes heavy bone, it doesn't disintegrate or deflect. It simply plows on through Barnes' round nose solids range from 220-grain .30-caliber bullets up to 900-grain bullets for the .600 Nitro Express. Spitzer-shaped solids, deadly for hunting varmints and fur-bearing animals with minimal damage to valuable pelts, are offered in .22 through .30 calibers.
