A Composite Blade combines two steels in one blade and enables us to put each steel to work doing what it does best. In this case, we put high-performance Sandvik 14C28N stainless on the spine and most of the blade. With increased nitrogen in the formula, 14C28N provides both good corrosion resistance and high hardness. The cutting edge is high-carbon high-chromium D2 steel. It’s only slightly stain resistant but it provides the razor edge and the easy re-sharpening of high-carbon steel. In time, expect a patina to develop along the edge, which will help protect against corrosion.
