The Black Gulch is one of Kershaw’s original Officer Ranch knives, born and proven on Pete Kershaw’s ranch in eastern Oregon. They are sturdy work knives, pure and simple. The Black Gulch is one of the medium-sized Officer Ranch knives and offers a 3-inch blade of 8Cr13MoV stainless steel. The steel provides a good balance of toughness, edge sharpness, and corrosion resistance, while the swaged clip-point blade provides an aggressive point for piercing tasks, and enough belly to take care of slicing tasks as well.
The handle is stainless steel inlaid with cross-grooved ABS inserts on both sides for a secure grip under a wide variety of environmental conditions. The lock back design is extremely sturdy and keeps the blade securely in place when in use. To release it, the user must depress the locking mechanism on the back of the handle.
