Hornady Custom Grade Series III 3-Die Set .44/40 Win (.44WCF) .429" Cowboy dies fo lead or jacketed bullets



Although the original .44 WCF (.44-40) had a grove dia. Of .427" and most factory ammunition is .427", all modern guns chambered in 44-40 have .429" grove dia. Barrels. For best accuracy .429" bullets should be hand loaded. These dies suit that purpose.



These dies are the perfect companion for your Cimarron, Taylor, Uberti or Pietta 1873 revolver chambered in .44 WCF / 44-40. The mentioned guns in current production all have .429" bores. These dies are designed to handle .429" jacket bullets and .430" cast bullets. Ammunition loaded with these dies with .429" or .430" bullets will fit the chambers of the mentioned revolvers. Also since the sizing die was also designed for .429" bullets, the brass will not be over worked like some other dies that were designed for .427" bullets that had larger .429" expander plugs. Such as the case with RCBS dies.
