Safety is assured through the Patented New England Firearm Transfer Bar Mechanism, which protects against accidental discharge caused by a blow to the hammer or from a dropped hammer during the cocking process. In fact, the hammer never contacts the firing pin assuring that if the hammer is down the shotgun cannot fire.
