The .500 Wyoming Express (.500 WE) is a powerful revolver cartridge introduced in 2005 by Freedom Arms for their Model 83 single-action revolver. Uniquely, the .500 WE is an original belted case not based on any existing case; the belt allows use of a smaller rim to better fit the Model 83. Bullet diameter of .500-inch is the same as the .500 S&W, but with a shorter 1.37-inch case it is not as powerful as the .500 S&W. It is still an extremely powerful handgun cartridge, similar in performance to the .50 Action Express. It propels a 440-grain bullet at 1200 fps, rendering it adequately powerful for almost any game on Earth! Recoil is of course very significant, but the .500 WE is extremely accurate for those who can hang onto it!
